SVG India Summit Draws 120 Industry Professionals to Star Sports in Mumbai


The inaugural SVG India Summit was held on April 30 at Star Sports’ headquarters in Mumbai, bringing together more than 120 sports production professionals from across India for a day of panel discussions and networking focused on one of the world’s growing sports markets.

Over 120 sports production professionals from across India and abroad made the trip to Star Sports in Mumbai for SVG’s first ever event in India.

“This event opens a new era for SVG as we look forward to helping sports production professionals in more and more regions of the world come together to share ideas, identify challenges and develop solutions that will make sports content creation better and more effective.” He says Ken Kirschbaumer, SVG, Co-CEO. “The entire Star Sports team deserves a huge thank you for making the event run so smoothly.”

The event was sponsored by Tata Communications, Vizrt, Devlin Design Group and Signiant.

The event started with a keynote from Sanjog Gupta, Disney Star, President of Sports, discussed how sports content distributors need to move beyond legacy, entrenched workflows in order to better meet the needs of fans who increasingly rely on new digital means to get their sports content. This was followed by a discussion between the Gupta, Mike DaviesFox Sports, Executive Vice President of Technical and Field Operations; SVG US Chairman and SVG’s Ken Kirschbaumer on big event production, pre- and post-game coverage, the role of the cloud, and more.

Today’s sessions gave an opportunity to some of the most important names in Indian production to discuss the recent developments and growth of sports like cricket within India and around the world. “On behalf of SVG, I would just like to say a huge thank you to Prashant and Sanjog for finally allowing us to hold this event,” says Davies. “Without their support, this would never have become a reality and in fact, this is something we have been discussing since before the pandemic. It has been a very long time coming but it has been worth the wait. Getting the chance to see Star Sports’ facilities and studios first hand as well as learning how We all face similar challenges and our need to learn from each other has been great.
