It’s Cinco de Mayo weekend, and as usual, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez headlines the pay-per-view card. But what is out of the ordinary is that Alvarez will be strapping on his gloves and putting his undisputed super middleweight title on the line against a Mexican opponent.

It’s been seven years since Alvarez last fought his compatriot, a unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in May of 2017. On Saturday, Alvarez (60-2, 39 KOs) adds his brilliance and welcomes undefeated Jaime Munguia (44-0, 35 KOs) in the ring for the main event.

Munguia, 27, has demonstrated his skill with 44 professional fights to his name. Although he has faced tough opponents, he has yet to face someone like Alvarez, who is widely recognized as the biggest name in boxing and holds titles in four weight divisions.

As anticipation builds, the question is whether Alvarez will maintain his dominance, or whether the young Mexican contender will make his mark with a win.
