It will also support global production of these models.

New Delhi:

JLR India has now announced the local assembly of its flagship offerings – Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India. The carmaker will produce the SUV at its Pune-based facility in Maharashtra. Interestingly, India is the first country to facilitate production of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, along with the Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE and Discovery Sport which are already being manufactured locally at Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Pune.

Local production is expected to help Jaguar Land Rover review the prices of its flagship SUVs. It will also support global production of these models, which is currently limited to Solihull, UK. Increased production will meet global demand for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. However, Solihull will still be home to the brand’s upcoming all-electric model and the SV range.

This announcement coincides with the arrival of the Home of Range Rover in India to provide an exclusive luxury experience designed to reflect the tastes and desires of distinguished and wealthy customers in the region. Range Rover House India makes its debut in the posh coastal town of Alibaug, showcasing some of the first Range Rover and Range Rover Sport that will now be produced in India, exclusively for the Indian market.

Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director, Range Rover, said: “Around the world we are witnessing the highest levels of customer demand for Range Rover, in our 53-year history. It is an unprecedented success story and India is a very important part and retail sales in India have risen, for FY24. Alone, at 160%, manufacturing Range Rover locally will enable the brand to respond to this growing demand among discerning customers and celebrities across the country.

Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, added: “This is a proud moment for all of us in India, as we become the first country to manufacture the iconic Range Rover locally. It is a testament to the quality standards that we have managed to achieve in local manufacturing in India, which is at par with those of JLR Globally, manufacturing the Range Rover family locally will bring together the best of both worlds, where premium British design, technology and refinement meet the pride of owning a luxury ‘Made in India’ vehicle.

Talking about the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, these SUVs are priced at Rs. 1.40 Crores. 2.36 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. The locally built Range Rover will be sold with two engine options – 3.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel in HSE and Autobiography variants. Deliveries will start from May 24 onwards.
