Southwest Flight Prices Are Now On Google Travel

For the first time ever, Southwest Airlines flight prices are now visible on Google Flights. This is a landmark move, as the discount airline is known for only displaying flight costs on its website and app. Enhanced pricing transparency makes it easier to compare flight options on a single platform.

View Southwest flights on Google Flights

Until now, it was only possible to view flight times for Southwest flights, but you either had to go to Southwest.com or the Southwest mobile app to see the ticket price. The search experience remains the same except for one important update: just use Google Flights when comparing Southwest and non-Southwest flights.

The Southwest Airlines CEO also hints that other changes in the coming quarters will make the discount carrier more attractive and enhance loyalty perks for Rapid Rewards members.

Now, Southwest Airlines’ fares are displayed just like those of other airlines. You can easily see prices for different fare categories (Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select).

However, it’s important to note that although you can view and compare these prices on Google Flights, you’ll still need to book the flight through Southwest’s platform. This is because Google Flights does not offer a direct booking option for Southwest flights, unlike some other eligible airlines Price protection.

You can also enable price tracking if you’re not ready to book today. The flight research tool will send fare alerts when ticket prices drop. In addition, the platform can look at historical trip costs to suggest a suitable purchase price to avoid overpaying.

The platform also has customizable filters making it easy to find the best flight to suit your travel needs.

It should be noted that other online travel agencies and flight booking sites still cannot access Southwest’s real-time prices. You can still only view flight times when searching for flights on Skyscanner or other meta-search sites that use deep data to customize flight options. The only exception is Chase Ultimate Rewards for select travel credit card customers.

Final thoughts

Frequent travelers have been waiting a long time for this day to arrive, and it has finally arrived. The ability to see Southwest flight prices directly on Google Flights is a huge time saver and continues to make Google Flights the search platform of choice for many travelers looking for convenience and useful insights to compare prices.
