Nevada Secretary of State announces ‘no evidence of widespread voter fraud’ after review of 2020-2024

The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office announced in a new report Monday that there is “no evidence of widespread voter fraud in Nevada” in recent years, saying the high volume of election fraud reports the office has received do not involve any actual election violation. Law.

The report details the results and status of various election investigations conducted by the office since 2020, including the number of cases referred to prosecutors, “double voting” cases discovered by the office, and reports of election fraud that the office received and investigated.
According to the report, only 14 cases have been referred for possible prosecution since 2020, including nine cases from 2020 and five cases from 2022.
The report details 146 cases of “double voting” from 2022 investigated by the Secretary of State’s Office — cases in which a single voter cast two votes. In Nevada, it is a crime to attempt to vote twice.
Three of the cases investigated by the Office were referred to the State Attorney General, 44 cases were referred for further investigation to the Investigations Division of the State Department of Public Safety, and 29 cases were investigated by the Secretary of State’s Criminal Investigation Team but were closed by the Office without action. The 146 cases of double voting represent 0.0001% of more than 1 million ballots cast in Nevada’s 2022 general election, the report says.

The report was released as part of the Nevada Secretary of State’s efforts to increase transparency in the office’s election integrity efforts as the office continues to receive a high number of complaints alleging election fraud.

The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office fully staffed its investigations team earlier this year after approving an additional budget for the team in the 2023 legislative session.
